Monday, July 3, 2000 - Tennis star Anna Kournikova and her doubles partner covered their eyes as a streaker ran onto the court during their Wimbledon match.
Mark Roberts, 35, from Liverpool, had the words “Only the balls should bounce” - a cheeky corruption of the slogan from the Russian player’s sports bra adverts - written on his chest.
He jumped over the net, did a forward roll onto the grass and ran around the court for 90 seconds while the embarrassed players covered their eyes.
The streaker was bad news for bookmakers William Hill, however, who had given odds of 2-1 that there would be one during a Kournikova match.
A spokesman said: “It looks like we will lose our shirt along with him.”
Leave it to the folks down under to liven up a boring cricket match with a new feature called “Male Streaker Tackling”. An unidentified man dashed onto the field, but was almost immediately stopped for a loss when a security guard lowered his shoulder and nailed this guy to ground. (No word on how many points that’s worth in cricket.) Cricketer Simon Katich was playing when the man made his unexpected appearance and was impressed with the guard’s form. “That was one of the biggest tackles I’ve seen,'’ Katich said. “Geez it was a good sound too, it was fleshy.”
Came across this video on YouTube and I couldn’t stop laughing. This is every serial streakers dream: outmaneuver the officials and come back for seconds.
This is the funniest streaking photo ever. I wonder how low the two security guys feel chasing this guy. I’d start laughing uncontrollably and let the guy have his one minute of glory.
Streaker Mark Roberts doesn’t stand a chance. The superbowl was between New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers, but this guy stole the show. He’s about to get his nuts smashed to the grass.
This is a great picture, it reminds me of the time I was in Thailand trying to figure out what was going on. All of a sudden I came to, naked and being chased by two bullfighters through the streets Bangkok.
